Ice Cream
(Natalia Zukerman)
There’s nothing quite like ice cream
As far as I can tell
Milk, ice and sugar seem to get together
And whisper secrets that you shouldn’t tell
And if you keep it to yourself
You won’t feel so well
And there’s nothing like moving
To bring you to your knees
You’ll get knocked over and over
With slightest rush of a summer breeze
It’ll make you see, it’ll make you see
Things you don’t want to see
I’m unpacking that blanket
The one we kept at the foot of the bed
And when the clock radio would scream
We’d pull it up over our heads
And stay here instead stay here instead
Sometimes I still have that dream
The one with you in it
Where water’s rising all around us
And it’s getting so wide we’re not sure we can swim it
But we try, but we try
And we make it to the other side
I never did like ice cream much til I met you
And I was fed sweetness and sugar on a silver spoon
And I kept it for myself
And I don’t feel so well
